By inserting my face into reproductions of old photographs from books
and the press, I contemplate the place of the individual in the flow of history;
the relationship of the individual to society and to history;
the ties between the present and events of the distant past; the common characteristics and common problems of individuals
in different times, above all in times of war, in times of tension,
leading to situations which can push men to the edge of experience.
Through the visualization of my person in these situations I am also
asking personal questions: who am I, what am I capable of or not, how
would I act under certain historical circumstances, or how would I have to act?
This piece consists of ten large-format /110x165 cm/pigment prints.
